Summary:
The Blueair 403 air purifier is the junior version of the more powerful 501 and 601 units. The coverage area is only 365 square feet. We found other brands with larger coverage areas at a cheaper price. The Blueair 403 model is a very sturdy machine built to last for a very long time. It comes with 4 speeds and a very efficient combination of Hepa type filter. The overall design is sharp even though both size and weight don't make it an easy device to carry on the stairs. Overall the 402 is a very good and efficient hepa air cleaner.
Strengths:
Nice design and overall good performance. It comes with a high grade Hepa type filter and can be configured with the smoke stop filters kit. It comes with a 5 years limited warranty. It offers 4 fan speeds for maximum comfort. It has a magnetic replacement filter change indicator.
Weaknesses:
Replace the Hepa filters is somewhat complicated. Cleaning dusts accumulated inside the device is not easy at all. Filters are not cheap and need to be changed every 6 months; this can be expensive for overall maintenance.
