Summary:
The design of the Blueair 201 is appealing and its galvanized case makes it quite slick. This unit comes with an embedded blue pilot light that indicates if the air purifier is turned on or off. As all blueair air cleaners, the electronic functions are cut to the bone: a 3 speed handle knob is all you have to operate this device. I feel this unit should offer a little bit more options to the consumer as there are other air purifiers in the same class that are more powerful and offers pollution sensors, remote controllers and so on. Never the less the Blueair 201 is able to maintain pollution free a room up to 200sqft. That's the average bedroom. When tested this model confirmed the manufacturer specifications as far a capacity and air exchange rates. Strengths:
The Blueair 201 is the least noisy compared to the Blueair 402,501 and 601. This is due to a different air intake design (intake is on the side, while the others suck in the air from the bottom). The 201 comes with a limited 5 Years warranty. Weaknesses:
Replace the Hepa filter requires some skills. It is also difficult to remove the dust accumulated internally. Less filter media is used in this model compared to the others. Only good for rooms up to 200 square feet. |
