Summary:
I was very trilled to get my hands on the new Airfree P1000 after seeing the prototype in Europe for the first time last year. The first huge improvement is the design: this unit really looks awesome and sharp. As a matter of fact they received an award for it.
The first noticeable major difference from its predecessor is the material of choice for the casing: the P1000 is built with ABS while the older RL60 had a metal casing. Dimensions and weights are pretty much the same of the prior design, so not much difference there.
Let's talk about what this bad boy can actually do: The original ceramic core has been enlarged in this version making it capable of covering 200 square feet more than the RL 60. The effectiveness of the unit still bursts 99.99% destruction of micro-organisms and other airborne pollutants at exhaust and an average overall reduction of 90% within 14 to 21 days. We confirmed these data in our offices. Even if the P1000 is not as effective against dusts and pollens like an HEPA filter based air purifier it has certain capabilities against it. This is pretty outstanding for such a small device with no fan.
I think the blue light on top of the P1000 air sterilizer makes a great addition as night light for babies and children rooms.
I conclude this review by saying that the Airfree made a drastic step ahead with the p1000 and I am pleased with the overall feel and performance. Indeed a great buy for people that have mould problems at home that need a stand alone and effective solution without worrying about replacing the filters. Good job Airfree!
Strengths:
Maintenance free, there are no filters to change… ever. The P1000 is a great solution against microorganisms such as fungus and molds. Very compact design, it can fit anywhere. Energy efficient.
Weaknesses:
You need to wait sometime (2-3 weeks) before fully benefit from the efficiency of this device. Not as good as an HEPA filter against dusts and pollens.
