Summary:
The RL 60 by Airfree has an efficient coverage area of 250 square feet and does not require any replacement filter as its design is filter-less. Furthermore there is no fan, making it noiseless. The principle on how the air is moved is through natural air convection. Our tests found the airfree RL60 sterilizer to cut down microorganism in a room 12 x 12 by 85% within 4 weeks. Similar tests have been conducted by several independent laboratories confirming our data. We also conducted the strawberry test that involves leaving for several days in two identical rooms two strawberries. One room has the air sterilizer running while the other room is empty. With our astonishment at the end of the testing period the strawberry in the room without the Airfree RL60 was completely rotten while the one in the purified room was still in great shape and developed significally less mildew.
Even though the unit is extremely efficient on molds and other airborne microorganisms the limitation of the slow air speed and lack of filter media make the unit ineffective on pollen and dust.
&As this said the airfree RL60 sterilizer is a great air purifier for those that suffer from sinus or are in the need to control mold.
Strengths:
Maintenance free, there are no filters to replace. It works very good against molds and fungus. Very compact design, it can fit anywhere. Energy efficient.
Weaknesses:
You need to wait sometime (2-3 weeks) before fully benefit from the efficiency of this device. Not as good as an HEPA filter against dusts and pollens. Not very cute design.
The airfree RL60 has been discontinued and It has been replaced by the Airfree P1000
